Main Improvement Points:
①Modify the range of Bass adjustment to 6-6
①Improve EQ sound effects.
③Reduce background noise and improve vocal clarity.
④Modify the range of Volume adjustment to 0-100
Note: The volume needs to be set in equal proportion to the factory version of the software.
Volume can be quickly increased or decreased by long press, it takes about 8s to go from 0-100 (please short press 2 times first, then long press it )
Specific Method:
1. Copy the "update.zip" file to the USB flash drive.
Note:
① Use an empty USB flash drive, USB format: FAT32, 128GB or less capacity;
② The file doesn't need to unzip;
2. After the Soundbar is turned on, insert the USB flash drive into the USB port, WAITING will be displayed, and then it will automatically upgrade and the progress will be displayed from 0-100. Automatically standby after the upgrade is completed.
3. Press and hold the button on the "OPT" for 5 seconds. If the display shows "V139", it means the upgrade is successful.

Hi,
I've followed the instructions to the Letter and unfortunately I still cannot get my Sound bar to update. I've downloaded the zip file and transferred it to my USB stick which is 128 gb in capacity. Perhaps I will have better luck with a smaller drive? I've updated my TV before using the same USB and didn't encounter any issues. I've erased the drive contents and formatted to FAT32.
When I insert it into the sound bar, the display shows USB however it does not display waiting or give any indication that the device is being updated as described in the description.
Benjamin,
Hey, I had a few issues myself with this. It took me a few tries. Make sure you copy and paste the ZIP file after doing a fresh format in FAT32 as you did. I used a 16gb USB drive not sure on the capacity issue. It took me several tries to get it recognize the USB, but it did. Try restarting the soundbar and waiting till boot is completed and then put it in. I made the mistake of trying to unzip the file. Once I started over and redownloaded the file (That was the key for me) and saved it straight to the USB drive instead of copying it worked fine. (Makes a huge difference too) also I used a USB 2.0 drive instead of USB 3.0 not sure that matters much like the capacity, but I did have a few issues with it myself until I started over and followed the directions to a T. Post up once you get it to work. Also, I unplugged the 2 HDMI ports that were occupied not sure if that had anything to do with it either.
Hope this helps ya!
Kyle
Hi Kyle, Thanks for the input. I've tried again as specified but still no progress. Elsewhere on this website it does specify not to use a flash drive over 32 gb for software updates so I'm going to chalk it up to that for now. It's good to know that the update does work for some people!
Benjamin,
Ok so I tried to repeat what I did with a larger thumb drive and could not get it to recognize any of 3 USB drives 2 were 64GB and one was 128GB then formatted a new 16GB thumb drive and was immediately able to get it to recognize it again so I believe that is going to be the ticket! I hope this works! Take it easy!
Kyle
Guys, for me works at first without disconntect nothing. First you turn on the soundbar with the remote controller then you insert USB (used a 16 gb 3.0).
And the rest it's all auto untill the complete installation :). Now I will try the software and write a feedback.
Software update V139 for the flagship Nova S70 refuses to install. Same story as Benjamin Wolfson, above.
A clean, reformatted 32GB flash USB drive. Fresh download of the zip file. Nothing else on the flash drive. S70 powered off. Restart S70 and allow it time to fully boot itself. Plug in the flash drive and all that happens is that it displays USB.
No install. Nothing.
The only difference I see between you and me is the size (GB) of the USB. For me it was immediately.
As you described but once inserted the usb it display “waiting” and then the % of the complete.
The thing that does not work for me was the holding the Dolby Atmos for 5 sec. I hold OPT for 5 sec then a list of acronyms will displayed. When you read MCU-139 is the info related to the version of the software.
I really don’t know why is not working for you. Same procedure only difference between usb size.
Formatted 32 bit?
Mattia,
It is the right hand edge of the [Dolby Atmos] button that you need to press. This button is likely sensitive to right/centre/left button pressure but, as ever, Ultimea are decidedly poor at providing user documentation.
I noticed that and still does not work if I long press. Only holding opt.
For best results, I also recommend changing the supplied HDMI cable (old standard) to an HDMI 2.1 Ultra High Speed cable (best if certified).
First thing I’ve done :) yes, 2.1 is way better to my ears. Ty for sharing.
Finally managed to get the sound bar to update. 16 gig flash drive with the update downloaded directly worked for me. Thank you Kyle for your assistance!
GOOD NEWS is that I did, eventually, manage to get the V139 software to install. I didn't do anything different to the previous 15 attempts, except that I downloaded directly from the laptop with the USB flash drive installed, rather than downloading from my smartphone and copying the file to my laptop. Who know. Anyhow it eventually worked. That said, when I did a previous software update, I downloaded to my smartphone before copying to my laptop and then copying to the flash USB without any problems 🤷♂️.
Mattia, long‐pressing the [Dolby ATMOS] button on the Right side of the button should cause your Nova S70 to display its current software version number whatever software is installed. It should still display Vxxx so your S70 should display some version number 🤷♂️
Question to all Nova S70 owners. Is anyone else getting squeaking-and-popping noises on the sound channel? I've been working with ULTIMEA technical support + Amazon technical support (for the Firestick) + Virgin Media (my ISP) technical support to eradicate the interference. So far I've successfully reduced to squeaking-and-popping noises, but not totally eradicated them. If anyone else is experiencing these squeaking-and-popping sounds, please respond so we can compare notes.
Mattia, earlier, you mentioned pressing the [OPT] button on the S70 remote. The [OPT] button selects an OPT-ical fibre cable as the S70's signal input source, so won't tell the the software version. L-o-n-g Pressing the RIGHT side of the [Dolby ATMOS] button should always display the V139 or V123 or whatever version of the software currently installed. I've just tried it on my S70 and I had to hold the right side of the button pressed for 5 long seconds or until the version number displays, followed by the Atmos version you selected with the [EQ-alizer] button and the strength level, -1, 0, through 1, that you previously set with the [Dolby ATMOS] button. Yes, it's extremely clunky, just like a 1980s user interface 🤪
Hi everyone,
Regarding software upgrade failure, our technical staff provides you with the following suggestions:
NTFS USB disk is not supported:
Description: The host does not support the use of NTFS formatted USB flash drives for upgrades.
Recommendation: Please use FAT32 or exFAT and other U disk formats supported by this device to upgrade.
The update.zip file must be placed in the root directory of the USB flash drive:
Description: When upgrading, please place the update.zip file in the root directory of the USB flash drive, not in any subfolder
Suggestion: Make sure the update.zip file is placed directly in the top-level directory of the USB flash drive and is not nested in other folders
The name of the upgrade package must be "update.zip":
Description: To ensure that the device can correctly identify the upgrade file, the name of the upgrade package must be strictly "update.zip"
Recommendation: Do not change the name of the upgrade file, make sure it is "update.zip", otherwise the device may not recognize it and cause the upgrade to fail.
Too many files on the USB flash drive may also cause the upgrade to fail:
Description: If there are too many files stored in the USB flash drive, it may interfere with the device upgrade process, causing the upgrade to fail.
Suggestion: Before upgrading, clean up unnecessary files in the USB flash drive and ensure that the USB flash drive only contains the update.zip upgrade file.
Hi Mattia,
Press and hold the right button of Dolby Atmos for 5 seconds to display the version.
Press and hold the OPT button for 10 seconds, where MCU is the version.
@Richard Sheddon. Yes, I’ve been encountering something similar. I hear an annoying static popping sound in between YouTube videos, I was hoping the update would fix this but it hasn’t. I’ve found setting audio output to Auto reduces it but does not eliminate it entirely and using this setting introduces a little bit of lip sync latency. Using Pass through output is better but for some reason this causes the soundbar to revert to Arc instead of Earc. PCM output is louder and perhaps sharper but the popping noise is most noticeable in this output.
Hopefully this will be fixed in a future update as my return window for Amazon has closed, it’s only a minor annoyance as the sound bar is otherwise very impressive.
I would have liked to call customer support about this but I live in the U.K and I can’t make free calls to Germany. Any tips or advice from anyone would be appreciated.
This is the second update I've tried. With the first update, the incremental volume inc/dec was not noticable. I literally was on vol 30 to notice an increase. And the bass wasn't as effective as the original software version. So I switched back to the default. I was able to update to v139. However, IMO the original software still sounds better. I still don't notice an increase in vol unless I'm up to 30 or 40. Yes, it allows Bass 6. But IMO the bass sounds more robust with the original version.
I too get those popping noises. When I turn on the TV it's set for HDMI 3 (cable box). I have to change to another input and then back to EARC. It then goes away.
On another note, I can't seem to find any true Dolby Atmos material. Although Amazon Prime says it's an ATMOS movie, I don't get Dolby Atmos displayed on the soundbar. I've tried PCM, Auto and Direct out on the TV. I don't think the streaming services are truly providing ATMOS content.
Mike McBride, if you're in the UK, then be aware that Amazon PRIME has ceased streaming in Dolby Atmos here. Go for a trial of NETFLIX or Disney+. Also, check your receiver is Atmos capable; my TV wasn't. The better Amazon FIRESTICKs can provide Atmos capability. My Firestick TV dongle is plugged directly into the S70 HDMI IN (HDIN) port, using the S70's pass-through to send pictures to the TV using the HDMI eARC. Disney+ and NETFLIX both have lots of great Dolby Atmos, alternatively, you'll need Atmos capable Blueray player. I had a lot of frustration finding this, as both Dolby and Amazon aren't up front about it.
I have noticed that since the v139 update was installed the S70 now takes 8-10 seconds to connect, this has approximately doubled from the previous version.
Hi Keith Alcock,
Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
Regarding the connection time you mentioned doubled being as long as before, could you please provide us with detailed information on the connection aspects problem?
We will do our best to answer your questions. Thank you for your patience!
Hi ULTIMEA,
I use this sound bar with my Xbox series X and I have repeatedly encountered this issue since the last update. The issue being that I am unable to select Dolby Atmos for home theatre option in my console's sound options, only Stereo uncompressed and headset format. I have a licence for Dolby Atmos and it states that it is enabled in the app setting. Using Passthrough for Atmos via the Sound bar is completely broken for me, it works initially, sound bar displays ATMOS then reverts to ARC mode Dolby Surround.
I am still encountering the popping sounds between content though the tinny higher frequencies in the EQ have improved.
My experience with this unit has been very hit and miss and I feel another update is required to address these issues.
When the soundbar and TV are both switched on it takes 8-10 seconds for audio to come through soundbar. I initially get sound from TV speakers until soundbar connects, this is only happening since v139 update.
Reverting back to the original firmware resolved my aforementioned issues. I would recommend all Series X users stick with the factory software for the time being.
Probably is the original is the one with less issue but really I can’t enjoy eq settings. Only for Music and then Bass -2 when i Watch films.
We need the bluetooth app update
Hi!
Ultimea has 24/7 support through their Chat service. That's probably your best bet.
I assume you have checked for a blown fuse, to ensure the S80 is actually getting power?
Yes, I plugged it into several sockets, but it doesn't seem to pick up power at all, the display doesn't light up, the device doesn't respond to the remote control
