I get what you're trying to say, but my main system 7.2 system, which also does Dolby Atmos, has only 3 speakers from the front: the center, by itself, and LS and RS, no left or right speakers. I then have a RLS, RRS, RLbackS and RRbackS, plus sub for a total of 7 speakers. With the D80, again the main soundbar has C, R and L, plus satellite FRS and FLS connected to the soundbar, and the satellite RLS and RRS connected to the Sub, for a total of 8 speakers. So there lies a big difference than my main unit. It would be nicer to put the 2 surrounds back more into the room, but again being a living room and not a mancave, it's not practical (for looks or the boss!) You also say the D60 has Ls, Rs, Lrs, and Rrs output from the surround speakers, and unless I've misread your intentions, that's incorrect. The D60 has only the soundbar from the front with a center, RS and LS included in the one speaker. Then connected to the sub is the 2 satellite RLS and RRS speakers, for only a total of 6 speakers, not 8 as you've listed. And you're right, 50% reduced, and there lies the problem. I've always loved to hear my surrounds MORE than I should...I've always loved it that way upstairs and downstairs, but with the D80, we don't have that choice with the fronts at all, and not enough with the rears as with the D60.
What I mean is, look at this. This is the Poseidon D60. The Poseidon D60 consists of a soundbar and two surround satellite speakers. Ls, Rs, Lrs, Rrs are all output from the two surround satellite speakers. And when you use the Poseidon D60, you put the two surround satellite speakers behind the sofa or on the side, not in front of the sofa, right?
On the other hand, the D80 has four surround speakers, Ls, Lrs, Rs, Rrs, distributed one by one. And you decided to place the two surround speakers in front of the sofa, not beside or behind the sofa. Therefore, 50% of the surround sound is output from the front, which is why you feel the surround is small in the D80.
What I mean is, you should place the four surround speakers of the Poseidon D80 around the sofa, not in front of the sofa. Then you will get a much more satisfactory surround sound than the D60. But due to your current environmental constraints, you are not able to do this.
What I want to say is that Ultimea designed the surround wire connection structure wrong. If you look at the current design of the Poseidon D80, the 2 surround speakers are wired to the soundbar, and the 2 surround speakers are wired to the subwoofer.... They shouldn't have designed it that way. If they had designed it properly, all 4 surround speakers should have been wired to the subwoofer.
Above is the correct 7.1 layout.
This is what Ultimea Poseidon D80 & Aura A60 is doing...
I just erased 15 minutes of rebut to your 1st latest post above, and now with your 2nd latest post, I see what's what :) Your 1st picture is exactly what my setup is downstairs with my Onkyo Dolby Atmos.
And I agree 100% with your last post! I said as much earlier that all 4 surrounds should be connected to the Sub. As for the D60, you're saying that in the "circuitry" of the D60, when playing DA, the 2 surround REAR speakers receive double the signals from the encoding, whereas with the D80's, they split the encoding up into 2 and provided 2 more surround speakers to handle it, thereby only receiving 50% of the volume with the D80's instead of 50%x2 with the D60s? I obviously "can't" leave them that way, but I'm going to try bringing the front surrounds as far back as I can come to my chair and check out the difference. I may have to drill some holes in the floor and add some wire if the sound improves that much :)
Bottom line though AGAIN, with the setup we've been handed, Ultimea needs to find a way for us to control and RAISE the volumes on the front Surrounds!!!, as well as the center speaker.
Yes, your attempt is worth it and I agree with your feature request!
I tested the Dolby Atmos for separation on the 2 front surrounds, and it does exist! But unless you can get them close enough to your listening position, they are not loud enough to overcome the main soundbar. Since I figured out that the Dolby Atmos was separated for the 2 front surrounds, I decided to test the same speakers with Dolby 5.1, and found as I stated before, they seem to just mimic the Left and Right speakers from the main soundbar. I used Aquaman on Netflix for testing. Maybe someone else may find a different result with a different program/movie. With these results, it appears keeping the D60 would be better than the D80 for most of what we watch aside from Dolby Atmos? With V139, it was much better with volumes and speech than the D80, at least as it is now unless the D80 gets a MAJOR update!!!!!
I heading away for the summer this weekend, and if there's no update by the time I get back in September, I'm going back to my almost new D60, that I haven't been able to sell for only $130 for months now, and selling the D80 for the $130 I need to break even with the D80 purchase and rebate when I bought it. We've said that the front surrounds needed to be connected to the sub for proper position listening, and with the D60, even though it's 5.1, the 7.1 Dolby Atmos coding is in actuality all there in the rears, plus I have more control over the volumes and such with V139. No app, which everyone seemed to think was so important, but I haven't used it once since I set up my D80.

That's a reasonable decision. By the way, your Poseidon D60 is not the 2025 version, right? The 2025 version of the Poseidon D60 not only has an added app, but also a significantly changed remote control, the surround volume control has increased from -6 to +6, the speaker's sound directivity has been greatly improved, and you can also set a 10-band EQ. In addition, a sound algorithm setting option called "Xupmix" has been added to the remote control. There are a lot of additions. You can replace your old Poseidon D60 with the 2025 version for free through a support ticket. Be sure to give it a try.
I will! I was waiting for them to release the new 2025 version to get a support ticket, but then they sent me a deal for the D80 that only cost me $130 out of my pocket, so I went for it instead. I wasn't aware the 2025 version was finally out....last I heard was it wasn't going to happen, but could be glad it did now.
Igen szerintem is kell egy frissítés a fejlesztóktól. Remélem olvasák és meg is oldják a problémát.
just before I left, I packed up the D60 just in case, and applied for an exchange ticket. At first, I was told they couldn't but after many emails back and forth, I was given 2 options: send back my D80 and get a new version D60 FREE, or send back the old D60 and get a new version and keep my D80, but $20US shipping....no brainer, sent the D60 back. I wasn't in a position to return the D80 anyway. The new D60 arrived today at my door. I'll set it all up in September when I get back home. As for any updates for the D80, still seems to be only V204, yet I found a whole different web pages for Ultimea that do not have any record of my email, and on there was a comment on updating the D80 from V33 to a newer V34, so not sure what the difference is between the 2 different sites for the same company.
When will the issue where the subwoofer and surround speakers keep losing connection at volumes below 11 be fixed? It's really annoying!
Frank. Unfortunately probably never. There's been various faults raised about this unit. I feel they've given up and moved on to producing newer models
