Xupmix ON:

Xupmix OFF:
All scene sounds remain consistent, with increased ambient sound volume and clearer surround sound.
β‘ Passthrough(Dolby Atmos) Source
Xupmix ON:
Activates Dolby surround sound processing. Enhances Dolby surround sound for a more immersive experience, but channel differences may be noticeable.
Xupmix OFF:
Deactivates Dolby surround sound processing. Channel depth differences are more distinct, but Dolby surround sound effects become weaker.

The difference isn't very clear... not to mention the desire to understand the technical specifications - the article doesn't describe what exactly the modes do.
