Attention:

Before proceeding with the software installation, please confirm if your projector software version:(Settings>About>Software version>"U0320-XXX" to check the software version)

If your projector software is the new version: V2.15 or V3.09, pls don't download V2.17
This is only for the projector software version V2.14 or lower.

Improvements Points:

① Add the Signal source memory function

② Improvements to lag, frame drops

③ Improvements to manual focusing accuracy

④ HDMI signal source supports HDR format compatibility issues

Upgrade the software to the V2.17 version:

Steps:

Step 1: Please prepare a USB flash drive, the format of the USB must be FAT 32 and the capacity of the USB must be more than 4G;

Step 2: The installation package V2.17, please download the file from the link:

P40-V2.17 installation package

Step 3: Copy the "MstarUpgrade9255BGA.bin" upgrade file to the root drive of the USB flash drive;

Step 4: Power on the projector and insert the USB flash drive into the USB port of the projector, it will pop up a prompt "The upgrade file is detected, and the system will restart the upgrade";

Step 5: The projector will be restarted and the upgrade process will be displayed as below;

Step 6: Please don't power off the projector during the upgrade process, the projector will automatically restart after the upgrade is completed. And then use the remote control to click on Settings>About>Software version>"U0320-V2.17" to check the software version;

The following steps are for connecting the gaming device only:

Step 7: Go to the HDMI signal source and press the remote control menu button to set Picture Mode to Game and game device resolution set to 1920x1080P(This step is only performed when playing games, but not when watching other movies);

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide
2. Select Profile and System>Settings>General>TV and Display Options
3. Under 'Display', select the appropriate screen resolution for the TV or monitor

Note: Please delete the upgrade file of the USB flash drive or unplug it to avoid repeated upgrades after the upgrade is successful.

Problems with lag in playing large online games with PS5/PS4/Xbox:

1. This product is not specifically designed for playing large online games, so there may be frame-dropping issues. For a better experience, it is recommended to play some common games. The main advantage of the product is that it is used to watch movies for a more realistic picture quality experience

2. Currently does not support HDR other formats, only supports HDR10, PS4/PS5 is the HDR standard and the projector does not support it;

Note: Currently the P40 does not support the display of HD corner markers for HDR video playback.

3. When the refresh rate of your gaming device is set too high, the projector is not compatible with it, which will easily lead to latency and screen stuttering problems (the projector cannot change the refresh rate-Default is 1080P).

How to minimize latency as much as possible?

1. Play it on USB and try to see if it drops frames
2. After playing the video for a minute and then recording it again, there may be a buffer when you first open the video and play it
3. Replace the PC with a better graphics card or a high-speed HDMI cable and try again(HDMI cable 2.0)
4. Operate the following two steps:
①Upgrade to the latest software version V2.17 via USB;      ②Go to the HDMI source and press the remote control menu button to set Picture Mode to "Game";
5. PS5 supports most games support 4K 60Hz, But our HDMI interface is 1.4, the above will have an impact, so it is recommended that the PS5/PS4/Xbox be adjusted to 1080P 30Hz resolution

    Great, looks like it's finally reached 60hz as it should. But there's another issue that came out now - when playing a game it the image gets micro-freeze every 10 seconds or so, could anybody relate to my problem? I'm gaming on a PC with 1080p resolution.

    Same issue with micro freeze after a couple of seconds of Mirososlaw, I've noticed this problem is related to Game Picture mode, with the other's Picture mode the glitch doesn't happen. Moreover, my Xbox doesn't recognize the HDR10 support projector after v2.14 upgrade.

    Apollo P40 version V2.4 requires a manual setup to have this feature.
    This is done as follows:
    Settings - Startup - Set to HD

    According to your question, you first need to confirm that your Xbox supports HDR10 because our projector supports HDR10 video decoding.
    In addition, HDR10 is mainly for improving the viewing effect and is not suitable for playing games.
    At the same time, you can provide us with pictures or videos whose equipment does not support HDR10, and we will further confirm the problem.

    Large-scale online games may experience frame drops, so it is recommended to use a better graphics card or a high-definition HDMI cable.
    Please also note that HDR10 is mainly for improving the viewing effect and is not suitable for playing games.

    My device is version V2.4 and upgrading is somehow not working. I have a FAT32 formatted 32GB stick with the image downloaded from the above link. When I plug in the usb stick, I get the message „upgrade file is detected“ and the system restarts, but then I don’t get any image (projector stays off) for about 3min and then the system starts again but still with the old V2.4 version. Do you have some idea on what is the reason for this and how to fix it?
    Thank you,
    Jakob

    The micro stutter/freeze issue in game mode happens to me too after the V2.14 upgrade. It happened with all tested hdmi sources and is most noticeable with fast moving images or games. It looks like a buffer or something in the projector software is not cleared correctly.

    May I know what kind of gaming device are you using? PS5 supports most games support 4K 60fps, But our HDMI interface is 1.4, the above will have an impact, so it is recommended that the PS5/PS4/Xbox be adjusted to 1080P resolution. Alternatively you can replace the computer with a better graphics card or a high-speed HDMI cable and try again(HDMI cable 2.0).

    Have you tried to replace it with another new USB flash drive? Please note that use an empty USB flash drive of 4GB or more to download and copy the files directly without unzipping or changing the file names. In addition, you can also try shutting down the device and restarting it to update the software again.

    Hello I was wondering how much will moving the P40 back 2 feet effect the picture size? It is covering about 3/4 of my screen now so if I move it back 2 feet it should be close to filling the screen. and I can use the zoom settings to shrink the image to fit the screen if necessary. I just got my projector up and running tonight, and I have today. I am very happy with it so far. the picture is crisp and clear all the way to the corners of the Image and it is plenty bright all the way to the corners. Even with the light on in the room. But when the light is off this picture is amazing. I still need to tweak the colours a bit. I am Super Happy with this machine. I think I should check to see that the fan is running because I can't even hear it from about 8 feet away. I watched a video and the guy was complaining about an un sharp Image and he had ghosting above his images. and a squealing noisy fan. his unit must have had shipping damage or something? Fortunately  for me My P40 is working great so far. I was also wondering about doing firmware upgrades I think there are several that will need to be done mine is version 2.15 I think But I will have to confirm the version. from what I have read in here I have to update the firmware in the order the updates came out until I get to the newest version. please let me know what the versions are in order. Thank You. I will be moving the unit back 2' tomorrow. and see how it fits the screen. CHEERS!! & MERRY CHRISTMAS!! and Thank you for the new Apollo P40 Projector!!!

    Answer #13489

    Hello Waynekiter,

    The projection screen has a playback range of 35 inches to 150 inches. Recommended projection screens are 50 inches to 100 inches, with the optimal projection size being 80 inches.
    You can refer to the website article: Recommend the best distance for the Apollo P40 projection🔥

    Our products have a warranty period. If the projector cannot be used normally due to external factors such as transportation, you can contact us to return or replace the projector with a new one.

    According to your current factory version V2.15, if you have problems with HDR format compatibility, crashes, screen flashes, etc., you can download the latest version V2.18. Please contact our official customer service support to provide you with the corresponding software version.

    For ceiling installation, our Apollo P40 projector requires The screw holes size: 1/4 M6*11mm.
    You can refer to the website article: Apollo P40 installation methods🔥

    Hello Ultimea,

    I really hope you are still working on that framedrop issue when the Game mode is selected. Honestly, I do like the reduced input lag of Game mode, but the constant "hiccups" are pretty noticable and disturb the overall experience when gaming on the Apollo P40.

    Now I do think this is fixable through a firmware update, so I will share my findings on the matter and hope your software team can work with it:

    According to my measures a hiccup occurs exactly every 380 frames or 6.333 seconds (if you go by a refresh rate of 60 Hz, of course). When it occurs, you would think that it just displays the current frame again, but that's actually not what happens. Apparently, when the hiccup occurs the projector will jump back two frames and display whatever was there, and it will do that for exactly one frame. After that it continues as normal for the next 379 frames before the next hiccup occurs.

    Of course I am not an expert on how your projector would work internally, but it seems that in gaming mode the refresh rate of the Apollo P40 is slightly higher than what the HDMI device connected (video game console, Fire TV stick, Blu-Ray player, you name it) actually sends. And after these 6.333 seconds I mentioned above the projector probably reaches that point at which it didn't receive a picture in time and displays an older picture instead. Why is it a two frame old picture? I have absolutely no idea about that, but I hope your developers will figure it out and make Game mode much more enjoyable. As of now gaming on the Apollo P40 is a choice between bad input lag and a distorted image every 6.333 seconds and I really hope that there is a way to fix this in software (i.e. by having the projector wait for around 0.04386 milliseconds or 43.86 microseconds each frame) before getting trying to display the next one. This may not be optimal, but if one hiccup occurs maybe every few minutes or so, this would be way less of a problem in my book.

    I hope I could be of help when it comes to improving your product. I think that it deserves it.

    I have exactly the same problem with stuttering/micro lag. I bought the P40 a week ago because of good reviews. I can confirm the error with the image dropouts. Every few seconds there is an interruption in game mode. Firmware U0320-VER3.10 is installed. It doesn't matter which HDMI source. Even different cables don't solve the problem. PLEASE fix! This makes the projector unusable for me and many others.
