The USB port is used to connect the USB flash drive, you cannot use the USB data cable to directly connect the projector to other external devices.
USB sticks come as v2.0 and v3.0 and have different formats as well. Some are exFAT, FAT32 or NTSC. The projector needs USB v2.0, formatted to FAT32.
This format (FAT32) can support a limited file size of 4GB, so as long as each file size is under 4GB, it should work.
Some new USB sticks now are sold automatically formatted to exFAT. But USB sticks can be reformatted, it may take a few minutes.
